Jean Wid Vinette
One of twelve children, he learned the game with limes and empty cans — and earned his way to professional trials in Brazil.
Jean Wid Vinette was born in Cité Soleil, Haiti, where his passion for soccer began almost as soon as he could walk. Growing up in one of Haiti's most challenging communities, he spent countless hours playing in the streets with neighborhood children, using whatever was available — limes, oranges, or empty cans — as a makeshift soccer ball. These early experiences helped shape his creativity, technical ability, and love for the game.
Raised in a family of twelve children, Jean developed resilience, determination, and a strong work ethic from an early age. His dream has always been to become a professional footballer and showcase his talent on the international stage.
Jean began his organized football journey with Champion FC, where his talent quickly attracted attention. He was identified by TapIn Sports through Ligue des Jeunes d'Haïti, opening the door to greater opportunities. Due to the growing insecurity in his hometown, the President of Ligue des Jeunes d'Haïti took Jean under his care and relocated him to Cap-Haïtien at the age of 6, providing him with a safer environment to continue both his personal and athletic development.
In Cap-Haïtien, Jean continued to refine his skills while playing for Mercure FC, where he established himself as one of the club's promising young talents. His performances earned him recognition beyond Haiti, and he was invited as a guest player by Association Sportive de Truitier to participate in professional trials in Brazil.
Jean's journey reflects perseverance, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to his dream. From playing barefoot in the streets of Cité Soleil with improvised soccer balls to earning opportunities to compete internationally, his story is a testament to the power of talent, determination, and hope.
